Posted on 06/10/2024
Mrs. Vickie Jackson will serve in a new role this upcoming school year as Karnack ISD's Instructional Coordinator, while Mr. James Demery has been named to replace Jackson as the Principal of George Washington Carver School.

The new administrative hires were announced Monday by Mrs. Angela Fitzpatrick, KISD Superintendent.

"I am thrilled to extend my heartfelt congratulations to Mrs. Vickie Jackson and Mr. James Demery as they step into their new roles," Fitzpatrick said. "I am confident that both of them will excel and drive Karnack ISD to new heights. Congratulations once again, and best wishes for your continued success!"

The Instructional Coordinator will facilitate designated student programs and services, while offering guidance and support to classroom teachers to promote the ongoing enhancement of their instructional abilities. This role will drive innovation, and help foster an environment of academic excellence, continuous improvement, and collaborative growth.

In filling the new role, KISD turns to one of its very own in Jackson. She has 32 years as a hometown educator, serving as a substitute teacher, instructional aide, bus driver, teacher, interventionist, behavior specialist, assistant principal, and principal. She was the 2024 Administrator of the Year and is a dedicated educator serving KISD students.

Demery brings over 22 years of experience in education, having served in a variety of capacities. He earned his Bachelor’s Degree in Christian Ministry from Wayland Baptist University, a Master’s Degree in Education, and a second Master's Degree in Counseling from Liberty University. He also holds an Education Specialist Degree in Educational Leadership from North Central University and has completed all but the dissertation requirements for his Education Doctorate in Leadership.

Demery retired in 2017 after over 23 years of service with the Army, National Guard, and Army Reserve. His professional and academic background and service to education makes him an ideal candidate for this very important role.

"Please join me in congratulating Mrs. Vickie Jackson and Mr. James Demery as they assume their respective roles," Fitzpatrick added.
